Red Sox manager admitted to making big change to lineup

The Boston Red Sox have really been struggling lately, losing their last four games and nine of their last 12 while falling to just one game over .500.

While it was the rotation and bullpen that had been scuffling, the offense hasn't been getting things done recently. In their four-game losing streak, they've scored just five total runs while giving up 16.

One of the biggest reasons for the lack of offensive output has been the performance of third baseman Rafael Devers, who has been battling a shoulder injury all year.

The 27-year-old has been having one of his best seasons, hitting .279 with a .904 OPS, 28 home runs and 80 RBIs, but since returning to the lineup, he's just 1-for-21.

With the superstar scuffling, Red Sox manager Alex Cora will be moving him around the lineup. According to MassLive's Christopher Smith , Devers will bat second for the series finale on Wednesday night as Boston looks to avoid the sweep against the New York Mets.

The teams in front of the Red Sox in the Wild Card race haven't been winning much either, but time is really running out for Boston to close the 4.5-game gap between them and the Kansas City Royals with just 23 games remaining in their schedule.

Hopefully, moving Devers back up in the lineup will help get him going again.
