DK Metcalf 'tightened up' his crazy candy-heavy diet, per Seahawks QB Geno Smith

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith made a special guest appearance on Good Morning Football today on NFL Network. Smith shared some love for the recently-retired Tavon Austin, who killed the Seahawks as a pro with the then-St. Louis Rams after a great college career with Smith at West Virginia. He also shared some thoughts about his team and the coming 2024 season.

Just when he was about to leave, Kyle Brandt asked Smith for an update on Seahawks star wide receiver DK Metcalf . Brandt wanted to know if DK was still subsisting on an insanely candy-heavy diet you normally only see in overcaffeineted eight-year olds who have broken into the pantry.

Smith laughed and replied that Metcalf has tightened up his diet a bit and predicted that he's going to be the best receiver in football this year. Watch.

When you have a metabolism like Metcalf, you can probably get away with eating all kinds of heinous things on a regular basis. However, he is now 26 years old and it will no doubt help his game to eat even a slightly healthier diet.

More importantly, Metcalf needs to mature when it comes to his actions on the field. Not getting baited into penalties will be a large part of that - but it's also true that Metcalf has left a lot of yards on the field in recent years. If the more discipline-oriented head coach Mike Macdonald can get Metcalf truly locked in on a peak Julio Jones-type level DK could challenge the likes of Tyreek Hill and Justin Jefferson for the receiving yards crown.
