Former Ole Miss star rips Rebel fans while dialing up hype for his new team

Former Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins promoted Ohio State at the University of Mississippi’s expense – knocking the crowd sizes at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium after what he experienced in his Buckeyes debut at Ohio Stadium.

“A one-of-a-kind experience. Definitely a one-of-a-kind experience,” Judkins said of his first game in an Ohio State uniform on Wednesday. “Super excited. Definitely more fans than I expected, so it’s super fun.

“Over 100,000 (fans). Being at Ole Miss, I only got to see that at away games.”

Judkins was heavily recruited by Lane Kiffin out of high school and committed to the Rebels instead of his hometown Auburn Tigers because of Bryan Harsin’s inactivity on the recruiting trail; even less than an hour down the road on I85.

Rumors of Judkins not agreeing to his NIL payday for the 2023 Peach Bowl and nearly sitting out the game marked the end of his time in Oxford. In January, he transferred to Ohio State when the Buckeyes had Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator. O’Brien took the Boston College head coaching job but Judkins stayed in Columbus for Chip Kelly’s arrival.

Judkins got the bulk of the carries (13 carries, 55 yards) against Akron on August 31 but it was TreVeyon Henderson (eight carries, 65 yards) who looked like the Buckeyes’ RB1. Only Judkins found the end zone (one touchdown), though.

After being the clear top back in Ole Miss’s backfield, Judkins is now looking like a potential backup at Ohio State.

Undoubtedly, that will affect future NIL earnings. And, in turn, cause Judkins to transfer again if being drafted to the NFL isn’t a realistic possibility next April.
