The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers at the 2024 trade deadline. The starting pitcher has been a key piece for the club since but he will be a free agent this winter.

When predicting what each team would do with its top free agent, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter predicted the Dodgers to re-sign Flaherty.

"The Dodgers have Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Bobby Miller, and Gavin Stone penciled into three spots in the 2025 rotation, and a long list of pitchers on the mend from Tommy John surgery, so opening up their wallets to keep Flaherty around could become a top priority," wrote Reuter.

Flaherty is projected to sign a three-year, $61 million deal in free agency according to Spotrac . The Dodgers acquired Flaherty for two of their top 30 prospects, including their No. 8 prospect Thayron Liranzo.

Since joining the Dodgers Flaherty has a 3.18 earned run average and 41 strikeouts. The 28-year-old is having one of the best seasons of his career.

"Slugger Teoscar Hernández and homegrown starter Walker Buehler also represent major free agency decisions for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but considering what a revolving door the starting rotation has been this year, they will need to seriously consider re-upping with trade deadline pickup Jack Flaherty," wrote Reuter.

With Clayton Kershaw's age and injury status, he could be heading toward retirement sooner rather than later. Walker Buehler has a 5.67 ERA and will also be a free agent. Flaherty could be a piece of the Dodgers rotation to start the 2025 season.
