After two straight years of not making the playoffs, Tennessee Titans fans have a reason to be optimistic about the 2024 campaign.
The Titans have a new head coach in Brian Callahan who is expected to bring a more modern approach to the team's offense, and Tennessee sports a promising young quarterback in Will Levis.
Adding to that, general manager Ran Carthon has done a fantastic job bringing in talent on both sides of the ball that will put Tennessee in a better position to compete, and if all goes well this team could make some noise in 2024.
So, exactly how optimistic are Titans fans?
Well, we can get a good idea by taking a look at a poll done by The Athletic's Nick Kosmider, Chad Graff and Adam Jahns , which shows that 69.9% of fans who took part are optimistic for the team's 2024 campaign.
That percentage ranked 22nd among all NFL fanbases. Here's a look at what four of the fans who took part in the poll said.
Optimist Turner: A roster makeover was needed almost as much as the coaching staff (and I am a huge fan of Mike Vrabel). If the offensive line can come together, then playoffs are highly possible.
Optimist Art: Even if none of it works, we’re swinging. And we’ll keep swinging moving forward. It’s time for an updated offensive system, and we’re implementing one.
Pessimist JT: I’m optimistic about the long-term success of this club, but I think this season will be frustrating. Will Levis has yet to show that he knows anything other than YOLO ball, which could be fun if the receiver corps pans out! I think this will be a fun season full of frustrating losses.
Pessimist Mark: The Titans have improved, but they still lag behind the Texans. I’m hopeful Levis takes a big leap forward in his second year, but I’m still not convinced the offensive line will be able to adequately protect him or open running lanes for the backs.
While the Titans having an aggressive offseason is certainly exciting, we also have to remember that this is the first year for a new coaching staff, and just the second year for Carthon, although it's fair to wonder how much power he had in Year 1 when Mike Vrabel was still around.
Whatever the case may be, this roster is easily more talented than the last two and that should lead to a better finish than the 7-10 and 6-11 records the team has posted in the previous two campaigns.
