Philadelphia Eagles inactives vs. Packers includes a surprise as healthy scratch

The Philadelphia Eagles released their inactives for Friday night’s season opener against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil, and the list included a bit of a surprise.

Rookie outside linebacker Jalyx Hunt, who was not listed on Thursday’s final injury report of the week, will be a healthy scratch in Week 1.

Hunt’s absence is somewhat eyebrow raising, though he was slowed by an oblique injury and missed the team’s Aug. 29 practice. The scratch places him behind veteran Patrick Johnson among the team’s EDGE players entering the season. Hunt was a third-round pick of the Eagles in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Among the Eagles’ rookies who appear set to make their NFL debuts Friday are wide receiver Johnny Wilson and cornerback Cooper DeJean. Offensive lineman Trevor Keegan had a strong summer, including playing every snap against the Patriots this preseason. He’ll sit Friday with the Eagles calling up veteran Nick Gates from the practice squad.

The Eagles will also have tight end E.J. Jenkins in the mix, via call-up.
