In just their second meeting all-time, the west coast and the south will face off as the California Golden Bears travel to the Auburn Tigers this week.
Both coming off of wins last week — Auburn 73-3 against Alabama A&M and Cal 31-13 against UC Davis — the programs will be looking to extend their momentum in Week 2.
After ending last season with a disappointing, 31-13 loss to the Maryland Terrapins in the Music City Bowl, the Tigers are looking to prove themselves this season. With notable coach Hugh Freeze in his second year, and top-five overall recruit Cam Coleman making his debut, Auburn should pose more of a threat within the SEC this year.
Cal football has struggled to be relevant since the mid-2000's, and last season was no different. The Golden Bears went 6-7 overall in the final year of the Pac-12 but competed closely in some tough matchups against USC and Washington.
Now moving into the ACC, Cal might have somewhat of a fish-out-of-water advantage, but they are still the projected underdogs in this Saturday's game against Auburn.
