Detroit Lions bold predictions for Week 1 game vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Detroit Lions will begin their latest quest for the first Super Bowl in franchise history when they meet the Los Angeles Rams at Ford Field on Sunday night.

The Lions have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations going into 2024 after the team made a run to the NFC Championship Game in 2023 before losing to the San Francisco 49ers .

On their way to that game, the Lions defeated Matthew Stafford and the Rams in the wild card game, so Los Angeles most certainly has revenge on its mind ahead of this contest.

With just hours to go before these two teams meet on Sunday night, here's a look at three bold predictions for the Lions.

Jameson Williams finishes with most receiving yards

The Lions desperately need Williams to step up in his third season due to a lack of reliable options in the receivers room, and he looks poised to do just that after a strong offseason showing .

"As high as it's ever been and continuing to climb," Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson said of his confidence in Williams. "The more reps, the more time we get together on the field, the better I feel about him. He's grown in so many ways, on and off the field. As a player, as a route runner, as a receiver, and then off the field just his preparation."

With the Rams focusing a lot of attention on Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta and Jahmyr Gibbs, Williams will have plenty of space to operate and will end up finishing as the game's leading receiver.

    Two 100-yard pass-catchers

With two talented offenses, this game has the potential to be a shootout. Knowing that, don't be surprised if two Lions pass-catchers break the century mark.

We already have Williams leading both teams in receiving yards and finishing with over 100, and he'll likely be joined by St. Brown, who will get off to a strong start to his fourth season.

Matthew Stafford throws more INTs than TDs

The Lions have completely revamped their cornerbacks room after sporting one of the worst groups in the NFL last season. Detroit traded for Carlton Davis, signed Amik Robertson and drafted Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

Things certainly won't be perfect for this group's first regular season game together, but the cornerbacks will create some timely turnovers while keeping Stafford out of the end zone enough to help propel the Lions to victory.
