Matthew Stafford admits he's so over Detroit Lions fans, Jared Goff chants

When Matthew Stafford took the field in his return to Ford Field as a member of the Los Angeles Rams in last year's playoffs, he was met with a chorus of boos from Detroit Lions fans.

For his second return trip in Week 1, he got a different reaction. As Stafford took the field on Sunday night, he was met with a chorus of Jared Goff chants, which is actually an improvement over what he got last time.

However, as Stafford admitted after the game, he's over it.

"I am, yeah," Stafford said when asked if he's over the Jared Goff chants. Stafford then acknowledged that playing at Ford Field was just another place to play at this point.

Stafford didn't seem too amused, but that could just be a result of suffering another loss at the hands of the Lions, who he is now 1-2 against, including postseason.

Stafford completed 34-of-49 passes for 317 yards and one touchdown to one pick in the 26-20 overtime loss to Detroit. He took a pretty bad beating, too, as the Lions posted 12 quarterback hits in the contest.

The Rams had a three-point lead in the closing minutes but the Lions managed to drive down the field and tie it up. Stafford didn't get the ball in overtime, as the Lions won the coin toss and drove right down the field to win the game on the strength of a dominating series from running back David Montgomery.

With both teams likely to be in the playoffs, this might not be the last time we see them square off in 2024. Stafford will be hoping that, if that occurs, it comes in Los Angeles this time around.
