Baseball America projects Red Sox as a top three farm system in 2025

The Boston Red Sox may be on the outside looking in at this point in the season (four games out of the final wild-card spot with 19 games to go), but there's a lot of hope for the future.

Boston has a ton of talented prospects in their organization who could make the leap to the MLB level in the next year or so.

In Baseball America's most recent update, Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony was listed as the No. 2 prospect in baseball. And, Baseball America's trio of JJ Cooper, Geoff Pontes and Scott Braun also spoke about the farm system and its potential on a recent episode of their "Hot Sheet" podcast.

"The 2019 season, we had the Red Sox ranked as our 30th farm system. I would say that they're a slam-dunk top three going into next year, very well could be our No. 1," Cooper said. "Right now, in this update, we have four Red Sox prospects among the top 26 prospects in the game, six prospects in the top 100. The thing that does jump out about this, the thing that I think is gonna be very interesting to watch for 2025 is these guys, the top prospects, they're all knocking on the door... Well, I'm not saying (Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Kyle Teel and Kristian Campbell) are just gonna plug into the lineup next year, although it's not crazy to think that's gonna happen."

It's crazy to think just how far this farm system has come in just a few short years, and it's now being compared to past farm systems that helped Boston win championships.

"We have two other examples in the B.A. era of the Red Sox having a farm system this highly rated," Cooper said. "Those were that 2006-08 group, which was the (Jon) Lester, (Dustin) Pedroia and (Jonathan) Papelbon and all them. And, then you have the 2014-16 group, which is (Xander) Bogaerts, (Mookie) Betts, (Rafael) Devers and (Andrew) Benintendi, who I know has kinda tailed off but was really good early on his career. And, then, by the way, they used (Yoan) Moncada and (Michael) Kopech to go get Chris Sale , who was the ace of their World Series-winning team in 2018."

If the top four pans out the way that these groups did, Red Sox fans will be very happy.
