The Green Bay Packers will be without the services of star quarterback Jordan Love for a short time.

He suffered a sprained MCL in the team's Week 1 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles and now it's unclear when he will return to the field. He won't miss too much time, but likely will miss at least a few games.

There already have been questions about whether the Packers will decide to bring in another external option to replace him in the short term. Green Bay acquired Malik Willis but some have wondered if the franchise could look to make another move.

One player who was mentioned as a fit is former New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe by CBS Sports' Jordan Dajani.

"The Western Kentucky product found himself on the outside looking in with the Patriots QB room, and he is now on the practice squad of the reigning Super Bowl champion (Kansas City Chiefs)," Dajani said. "Packers fans know a little something about Zappe, as his first NFL action came at Lambeau Field. When Brian Hoyer went down with a concussion in a Week 4 matchup vs. the Packers back in 2022, the rookie Zappe came in and completed 10 of 15 passes for 99 yards and one touchdown, while taking Aaron Rodgers to overtime.

"In all, Zappe is 4-4 as a starter and has thrown for 2,053 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. If you're looking for a younger player with a big arm who once caught the eye of Bill Belichick, you have it in Zappe."

It's unclear if the Packers would want to go after Zappe. The most important thing right now is finding out exactly how long Love will be out for so the team can plan accordingly.

That’s a lie just set it on television. He’s not bringing anybody else in. Willis is the back up quarterback
