The Texas Rangers haven't had the season they hoped to have.

Texas won the World Series last season but hasn't been able to get back to that level of success this season. The Rangers dealt with some debilitating injuries early on and never were able to recover. Now, Texas sits 6 1/2 games out of an American League Wild Card spot with a 70-74 record.

Despite this, there still is some excitement around the team right now. Texas reportedly is calling up No. 2 prospect Kumar Rocker, according to the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant.

"Breaking: Kumar Rocker is being promoted to the major leagues, and will start for the Rangers on Thursday at Seattle," Grant said.

Rocker is one of the most exciting prospects in baseball right now. He was selected by the Rangers with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2022 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft and has shot through the team's farm system.

He has appeared in 10 games this season in the minors overall and has made nine starts. Over that stretch, he has logged a 1.96 ERA and an eye-popping 55-to-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 36 2/3 innings pitched.

Rocker now will have a chance to prove himself at the big league level down the stretch in an attempt to earn a spot in the starting rotation in 2025 when Texas is expected to be significantly better.
