Arsenal fans have been left holding their breath after seeing their captain, Martin Odegaard, returning to London on crutches following an ankle injury during Norway's UEFA Nations League match against Austria.

The 25-year-old star was seen boarding a private jet, visibly glum, with his partner and dog by his side, as he faces an uncertain recovery period.

The injury comes just days after Odegaard shared the exciting news of becoming a father for the first time.

He had also spoken about his joy at being part of Arsenal, where he described the club as the perfect place for him, though he noted the team was still chasing silverware.

    Injury clouds Odegaard’s recent highs

Now, however, the midfielder faces a different kind of challenge after suffering what team doctors are calling a "strong overstepping" of his ankle.

Norwegian team doctor Ola Sand confirmed that Odegaard is heading back to London for further assessments, including an MRI scan to determine the extent of the damage. "He is on his way to London and will have an MRI there later today," Sand told Norwegian outlet VG.

While the severity of the injury is still unclear, Arsenal fans will be hoping this isn't a major setback for their influential captain. The Gunners are preparing for key fixtures in the Premier League as North London Derby awaits, and Odegaard’s presence will be crucial as they continue their hunt for glory this season.

For now, fans will have to wait for the MRI results, with hopes that their star player can make a speedy recovery and be back to pulling the strings in the midfield soon.
