Giants are bottom feeders in NFL power rankings after disastrous Week 1 loss

The New York Giants did little to inspire hope in a 28-6 blowout loss against the Minnesota Vikings to begin the season.

It was a disastrous performance on all fronts. Outside of maybe Dexter Lawrence and rookie Dru Phillips, there was little to be excited about from the opening game of the season.

Though expectations weren't all that high, the bar was much higher than what they put on the field in Week 1.

As such, the Giants moved down one spot in the NFL power rankings from Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News entering Week 2.

The Giants should have lost even more confidence in Daniel Jones, as it was a challenge to get the ball in the hands of anyone other than rookie Malik Nabers with the offensive line crumbling. The defensive woes somehow became more alarming vs. the Vikings," Iyer wrote.

Jones did crumble under pressure, but it wasn't because he was pressured at an insane rate. According to Next Gen Stats, Jones was under pressure on 36.7% of his dropbacks, which ranked 12th among NFL quarterbacks in Week 1.

Despite the pass-rush being solid for the most part, the secondary allowed Sam Darnold to complete 79.2% of his passes for a 113.2 passer rating.

It was mostly a rough showing for the Giants all around, and it's very likely they're in for another brutal campaign unless they can fix these issues dramatically.
