The Washington Commanders did not have the Week 1 they hoped.  However, there were plenty of positives to take from rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels' performance.

The team is set on making quick improvements evidenced by yesterday's release of kicker Cade York who missed two field goals in the Tampa Bay game.

Bleacher Report' s scouting department suggests another immediate fix the Commanders could make is to sign veteran free agent pass rusher Patrick Peterson.

Peterson, an 8-time Pro Bowler and 3-time First-Team All-Pro, is 34 years old and spent the 2023 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last year, he played in 17 games and registered 34 solo tackles and two interceptions.

Baker Mayfield had plenty of time to throw on the Commanders on Sunday.  He finished the day with 289 yards and four touchdowns. He was sacked one time and hit four times.

The starting Commanders defensive ends are left DE Clelin Farrell (who got the lone sack on Mayfield) and right DE Dorance Armstrong. Cornerbacks are Benjamin St-Juste and Michael Davis, on the left and right respectively.

The 0-1 Commanders host the New York Giants in a Week 2 game that will kick off at 1 PM ET.
