Liverpool fans have been hit with disappointing news as midfielder Harvey Elliott is reportedly set to miss a significant portion of the season due to a fractured foot.

The injury, which occurred while training with England’s Under-21 squad, could keep the 21-year-old out of action until late October.

Elliott’s early season hopes have taken a massive blow, especially after managing just seven minutes of play so far.

A tough road ahead for Liverpool in the absence of Elliott

Elliott’s absence couldn’t have come at a worse time for Liverpool, with seven matches scheduled in just three weeks.

The Reds face a tight fixture list, starting with a home game against Nottingham Forest. Manager Arne Slot is now faced with the challenge of managing his squad carefully to navigate this intense period. As reported, Slot may be forced to rotate his players more frequently to keep up with the demanding schedule.

The pressure now falls on Liverpool’s remaining midfielders, with Curtis Jones expected to return from injury.

However, Alexis Mac Allister is still dealing with a fitness issue, leaving the squad even thinner. New signing Federico Chiesa will likely step up, adding some much-needed depth to the attacking options, but Elliott’s absence will be keenly felt.

This season was meant to be a breakthrough for Harvey Elliott. After spending much of last year coming off the bench, he had his sights set on becoming a regular starter under Arne Slot.

There were even talks of Elliott taking on a more advanced role as a potential No. 10, but his injury has put a pause on those ambitions. The 21-year-old is reportedly set to miss around next 10 fixtures for Liverpool.

With Federico Chiesa joining the squad and competing for a similar position, Elliott was determined to prove his worth. Unfortunately, his season has now stalled just when it looked like he was ready to make a bigger impact.

Can Slot keep the momentum going?

Despite the setback, Arne Slot’s start to life at Liverpool has been nearly flawless, with three wins and no goals conceded.

However, with Elliott sidelined and other players nursing injuries, the big question is whether Slot can keep up the momentum.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that Curtis Jones and Federico Chiesa can fill the gap left by Elliott.

But it’s hard not to feel gutted about losing one of the club’s most promising young talents just as the season was heating up.
