On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was asked about what the team plans on doing at quarterback once Russell Wilson is healthy enough to play.

But Tomlin wasn't interested in getting into hypotheticals, which leaves the door at least slightly open for the possibility that Justin Fields keeps the starting job after Wilson, who looks on track to sit in Week 2, returns.

"Again, I'm not going to soothe you with hypothetical scenarios," Tomlin said . "It is my general practice to not. You guys that know me, know I do not. So why start today because it's the quarterback position or because it's a national story? I am unmoved by some of those narratives, to be quite honest with you."

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler , the belief is that the Steelers will indeed go back to Wilson once he recovers from his calf injury. Fowler cites Pittsburgh's belief that Wilson has a better command of the offense.

"Even though Fields is expected to start for the Steelers in Denver, the belief is that Wilson will get the job once he returns from his calf injury," he wrote. "Pittsburgh believes Wilson's command of the offense is stronger, and it seems like only an explosive performance from Fields can change the trajectory."

Fields did just enough for the Steelers to beat the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, but the majority of the credit goes to the defense and the leg of kicker Chris Boswell, who made all six of his field goals and accounted for all of Pittsburgh's points.

Fields needed to do more if he wanted to wrestle the job away from Wilson, who was named the starter going into the season. It looks like Fields will get another chance to show his stuff against the Denver Broncos this Sunday, but barring an exceptional performance, Wilson is going to get the ball when he's healthy.
