4 Players listed on Miami Dolphins final injury report ahead of Week 2

The Miami Dolphins face a tough early-season task tomorrow night when they square off against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football. The Dolphins needed a second-half rally to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1, while the Bills took care of business in their opening game against the Arizona Cardinals to make this an early battle for the top of the AFC East.

The Dolphins came into the week with some significant injury concerns, as did Buffalo. While the Bills got good news on their biggest injury – an injury to the non-throwing hand of quarterback Josh Allen – the Dolphins weren’t so lucky with their most pressing injury. Starting running back Raheem Mostert has officially been ruled out of tomorrow night’s game with a chest injury, as has wide receiver Malik Washington with a quadricep injury on the latest injury report .

On the Bills side, cornerback Taron Johnson and defensive end Dawuane Smoot have also been ruled out with forearm and toe injuries respectively, while fellow defensive end Javon Solomon has officially been listed as doubtful with an oblique injury.

While the Dolphins will be without Mostert for the Thursday night battle, there’s still hope that fellow running back De’Von Achane will be able to play with an ankle injury. Achane reportedly looked good in today’s walkthrough, and though his participation was estimated as limited, he’s listed as questionable for Thursday’s game but is expected to play.

The Dolphins are going to need Achane on Thursday if they have a chance of defeating the Bills. Achane was an integral part of the Dolphins offense in Week 1, serving largely as a de facto third wide receiver along with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The Dolphins have a severe lack of options in the wide receiver corps beyond the top two, and a hampered Achane only serves to further shine a light on that deficiency.

Mostert’s injury could open up an opportunity for rookie running back Jaylen Wright . Wright was one of the stars of the preseason for the Dolphins, but was a healthy scratch in the team’s opening week. He should be on the active roster this week, and will likely see time in a rotation with Achane and possibly Jeff Wilson, Jr.

The only other injury for either team comes from the Dolphins, who listed defensive back Elijah Campbell as a limited participant with an ankle injury. Campbell had not been on either Monday or Tuesday’s injury report. Both offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg and cornerback Jalen Ramsey were listed as full participants and should start Thursday.
