With under a minute left in the Green Bay Packers season opener in Brazil, Jordan Love suffered a knee injury that will force him to miss time. The Packers have stated that Malik Willis will be the starter while Love is out.

The Packers traded for Willis just before the season started, but he does not have much experience. Willis and backup quarterback Sean Clifford have a combined three interceptions and zero touchdown passes. Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon suggested Ryan Tannehill as a free agent the Packers should sign.

"The Packers really can't afford to roll with Willis and Sean Clifford for multiple weeks, and Ryan Tannehill is the best option available on the open market," wrote Gagnon.

Tannehill was a Pro Bowl quarterback in 2019 and led the Titans to three consecutive playoff seasons from 2019-2021. Tannehill, 36, has thrown for 216 career touchdowns and has run for 27 more.

However, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has made it clear that the team has not spoken to Tannehill despite reports.

"No. Despite reports,” LaFleur said Monday. “It’s crazy to me how people come up with some of these things. I think you explore every possibility, but at no point in time did we ever have any discussions with anybody.”

Willis started three games for the Titans in 2022 as a rookie. He completed %51 of his passes with no touchdowns and three interceptions. He did however rush for a touchdown.

Sean Clifford was the Packers' backup quarterback last season. He did not start any games but appeared in two. He completed his only pass of the regular season for 37 yards.
