Mike McDaniel's appearance is one of the first things fans notice about him.
The head coach of the Dolphins looks like anything but a football coach. His smaller stature, well-kept hair and framed glasses give off more of a vibe of a high school teacher than someone in charge of 300-pound men crashing into each other.
However, McDaniel is going for a new look in 2024. The Miami head coach is fully embracing the city, as he stunned media members and Dolphins fanatics with his appearance during training camp. His lengthy beard, long, curly hair and designer glasses have translated into the regular season as well, with McDaniel showing off his style on the sidelines.

When McDaniel showed up for his first press conference of the 2024 preseason, he most certainly got some double takes.
The glasses and beard aren't anything new to McDaniel. However, in his first two years as a head coach, he kept the hair combed, parting it to the side in a well-kept manner. His beard was prevalent, but he kept it trimmed and clean.
That has been thrown out the window this year. McDaniel now has long, curly locks and is letting the facial hair go with it, giving off a much different vibe than the one he previously had in his NFL career.
It's unclear why McDaniel opted for the updated look in 2024. He has yet to discuss the changes to his hair with anyone, so the reason behind it remains unknown.
Perhaps he is making alterations in hopes it translates to different results on the field. The Dolphins went 9-8 under McDaniel in 2022 and 11-6 in 2023, however, both seasons resulted in first-round exits in the playoffs.

McDaniel is known for his glasses as well. On typical days where he isn't dealing with the sun, the Dolphins head coach can be seen wearing prescription lenses. The frame may be bigger than most, but they're aren't out of the ordinary
However, when you're coaching in Miami, you're going to need a good pair of sunglasses ... or a few. McDaniel has broken out a number of pairs, and none of them are lacking in style.
