Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Tee Higgins missed the first game of the season after an injury popped up late last week.

Ahead of the disastrous Week 1 loss against the New England Patriots at Paycor Stadium, Higgins was added to the injury report with a hamstring injury following Thursday's practice.

After not practicing Friday last week, Higgins was listed as doubtful and was eventually inactive for the game.

The former second-round pick has dealt with injuries throughout his career with the Bengals and the 2023 season was the first time he missed a significant portion of games — three of which came due to a hamstring injury.

Ahead of the Week 2 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs , we're tracking the latest updates regarding Higgins' injury status.

Higgins did not practice Wednesday to open the week, marking the second consecutive practice he's missed dating back to last week.

There's still a chance Higgins can make his return for the vital matchup against the AFC rival Chiefs, but he will likely have to log some type of participation on Thursday to have a chance at making his season debut.

However, it seems unlikely Higgins will be back this week. Adam Schefter of ESPN said on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this week that he would be surprised if Higgins was able to suit up for this matchup.

"We'll see how the week plays out but I'll be surprised if he plays on Sunday against the Chiefs," Schefter said.

The practice reports for Thursday and Friday will give a better idea of of his status for Week 2.
