In a recent interview, legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick compared Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to a legend.

Speaking with Clarence Hill Jr., Belichick said opposing defenses that prepare for the Cowboys have to prepare like he did when he faced Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers.

In fact, Belichick made the argument that Prescott played at a higher level last year for the Cowboys than Montana did in his legendary career.

One could easily make the argument that statistical comparisons between the two quarterbacks aren't a true measure of greatness. For one thing, rules these days favor offenses far more than they did when Montana was playing. Additionally, Montana's greatness lies in the way he played when it mattered most.

Prescott hasn't lived up to that level of superiority. He's struggled in the postseason, and the Cowboys have never made it past the divisional round during his tenure.

Montana, of course, is a postseason and Super Bowl legend.

The Cowboys have fully committed to Prescott for the foreseeable future, thanks to a mammoth new contract extension signed just before the season began. If he's going to live up to his end of the bargain, a Super Bowl victory is what he needs to accomplish.
