49ers approached Raiders about trade for wide receiver, per NFL insider

The Las Vegas Raiders were reportedly approached by the San Francisco 49ers about a trade for wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, but general manager Tom Telesco rebuffed the inquiry.

According to Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle , the Niners approached the Raiders about a trade for Meyers as they were prepared to move on from wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who they nearly traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers after failing to come to an agreement with him at first.

Silver did not reveal what the Niners offered, or if it even got that far, but he reports Telesco was not interested in dealing the Raiders' No. 2 receiver.

"For example, the Raiders, who are believed to be receptive to stockpiling picks in anticipation of positioning themselves to draft a quarterback next spring, were approached about dealing starting receiver Jakobi Meyers," Silver wrote.

"The Raiders rebuffed S.F.’s overtures for the sixth-year veteran, who caught 71 passes for 807 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023."

We'd have to know what the Niners were offering to know if Telesco made the right decision or not. It would have been tough to lose Meyers, but it wouldn't have been outlandish considering the Raiders need to have an eye on the future.

That said, it's possible this trade wouldn't have gone through even if Telesco was open to it.

Ultimately, Aiyuk went back to the Niners and told them he wanted to stay and would accept their offer right as they were finalizing a trade with the Steelers, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer .

Depending on how this season goes, just about everything should be on the table for the Raiders in 2025 as Telesco looks to add draft picks to retool or rebuild this roster in the coming years.
