Matt LaFleur delivered promising news about Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love's knee injury.

Love suffered a knee injury on the final drive against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Originally Love was expected to miss multiple weeks, but Matt LaFleur revealed that the star quarterback's situation can be described as day-to-day.

"We got lucky that it wasn't more serious," LaFleur said. "Certainly the injury looked pretty gruesome on TV, and in person, it was a scary moment for us. I'd say it's more day-to-day than anything."

Love has not practiced this week ahead of the Packers hosting the Indianapolis Colts. Should he not be ready, Malik Willis will be the starter with Sean Clifford backing him up.

Willis made three starts for the Tennessee Titans in 2022. He has not thrown a touchdown in his career but has recorded a rushing touchdown. With Love's injury seemingly being more short-term the Packers will likely avoid bringing in a free-agent quarterback.

LaFleur has not even fully ruled Love out for the Colts game. On September 11 he noted that the door for him to play is open.

"I'd say (the door) is pretty open," LaFleur told reporters. "He's doing a nice job. He's spending a lot of time in the training room."

LaFleur went on to say Love does not need to practice in order to play. However, he needs to be cleared and the Packers need to feel like he can protect himself on the field.
