    Tua Tagovailoa injury update: Dolphins quarterback suffers concussion on 'Thursday Night Football' vs. Bills

    Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a scary head injury on "Thursday Night Football" against the Bills.

    Trailing 31-10 in the third quarter, Tagovailoa was trying to bring Miami back into the game on a red-zone drive. He put his head down on a scramble toward the end zone, jamming his helmet against Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

    Tagovailoa remained on the ground for a few minutes as players on both teams took a knee around him.

    Tua Tagovailoa injury updates

    Tagovailoa went back to the locker room immediately and was ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion within 6 minutes of his exit.

    Late in the fourth quarter, sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung provided an update that Tagovailoa has movement in all of his extremities. He was still in Miami's locker room, joined by his family.

    What happened to Tua Tagovailoa?

    In the third quarter, Tagovailoa brought Miami into the red zone. On fourth-and-4, he attempted to scramble for a touchdown from the 13-yard line. He picked up six yards before putting his head down to try and run over Bills safety Hamlin, tweaking his neck before hitting the turf.

    Tagovailoa was frozen on the ground for a brief moment before showing signs of movement. He stayed down for a few minutes as the medical team attended to him.

    Tagovailoa eventually rose to his feet and walked off the field, receiving an ovation from the crowd.

    Tua Tagovailoa concussion history

    This is the third known concussion during Tagovailoa's five-year NFL career. In 2022, he suffered concussions in back-to-back weeks and missed two games with the head injuries. Tagovailoa said at the time he contemplated retirement from football.

    Prior to the injury, Tagovailoa was not having his best night against Buffalo.

    Even though he completed 68 percent of his passes, he threw three interceptions. His first turnover was more on wide receiver Grant DuBose, who wasn't looking as the ball bounced off his chest into the Bills' hands .

    Tagovailoa's other two interceptions were ugly throws. He completely overthrew his target on the second pick of the game.

    His third interception was the deciding factor in the outcome, tossing a pick-six when he was trying to throw the ball away.
