Chargers vs. Panthers series history: L.A. has had hardly any success against Carolina

The Los Angeles Chargers (1-0) will travel to Charlotte this Sunday to face the Carolina Panthers (0-1). There won't be too many people picking the Panthers to win that game, but that pick won't be backed up by the history between these two teams.

Of the seven meetings that have taken place in the past, the Panthers have won six of them. The only time the Chargers ever beat the Panthers came 20 years ago, a 17-6 Chargers win in October 2004.

The Panthers have taken four in a row over the Chargers since that day and will look to get their first win of the season by beating them for a fifth straight time. The Chargers could be without star defender Joey Bosa for this game.

The Chargers have beaten the Panthers just once in history and that came two decades ago.

Drew Brees was the Chargers' quarterback that day but he did not throw a touchdown pass. Instead, LaDainian Tomlinson and Jesse Chatman scored touchdowns on the ground in a defensive struggle.

The game took place at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The Chargers have never beaten the Panthers in San Diego or Los Angeles.
