Patriots named potential landing spot for former first-round pick in trade

The New England Patriots have started off the season 1-0, but they haven't exactly done the best job surrounding quarterback Jacoby Brissett with the best group of weapons to throw to.

In Sunday's win against Cincinnati, Tyquan Thornton, K.J. Osborn, DeMario Douglas and Ja'Lynn Polk were the only wide receivers to be targeted, and their success was limited to just 66 yards on eight receptions

With that said, New England could look to add more to their receiver room at points during this season, and in a recent post, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox listed Tennessee Titans wideout Treylon Burks as someone the Patriots could target.

Here's what Knox wrote:

"The rebuilding New England Patriots might also be interested in Burks' upside. The Patriots showed that they can play competitive football during Sunday's surprising victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the Patriots' wide receiver group still leaves plenty to be desired."

Burks, 24, played collegiately at Arkansas for three seasons, recording 146 receptions for 2,399 yards and 18 touchdowns while earning Second-team All-SEC honors twice and First-team All-SEC once.

The Tennessee Titans selected Burks in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft, but he hasn't done much in his short professional career. In 2022 games over his first two seasons, he caught 49 passes for 665 yards and a touchdown. He caught just one pass for two yards in last week's game against the Chicago Bears.

Burks was considered a first-round pick by most scouts, so there may still be something to work with if the young wideout got a fresh start with a new team. The Patriots may be willing to take a shot on the upside for a cheap price, even if he doesn't see any action right away as he learns the system.
