After an impressive year ended with a first-round exit in the postseason, the Orlando Magic made moves in the offseason, hoping to make it even further this upcoming season.

The Magic made a big-time signing in the offseason by bringing in two-way guard, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. But as the team looks to bolster their depth ahead of the upcoming season, Orlando has signed four free agents to compete with as training camp looms.

“The Orlando Magic have signed four free agents: guard/forward Jarrett Culver, guard Myron Gardner, forward Jalen Slawson, and forward Tre Scott,” the team announced Thursday.

Of the players signed, Culver may be the most noteworthy. The former lottery pick in 2019 had high hopes entering the league, but could never quite figure it out through his first four years.

However, through 29 games in the G-League last season, the Texas Tech product averaged 20.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 steals on 38% shooting from three. If the forward’s shot-making ability can translate throughout camp and the preseason, he could turn heads.

At 25, the former Big 12 Player of the Year has the skill set to be a contributor immediately.

That said, Culver will be a name to watch for a chance to make the team’s opening night roster.
