Georgia coach Kirby Smart loves the underdog card.

After Week 3, he shall have it. Texas is poised to take the No. 1 spot in the latest college football rankings heading into Week 4. Sporting News has moved the Longhorns ahead of the Bulldogs – who escaped a road date at Kentucky with a 13-12 victory – heading into Week 4.

Texas beat UTSA 56-7, and Arch Manning's five-TD performance showed why the Longhorns should be fine while Quinn Ewers recovers from an abdominal strain. Texas has been the more-impressive team through three weeks, and the victory at Michigan in Week 2 is a small separator, at least for now.

Georgia and Texas will play on Oct. 19 at Darrell K. Royal-Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas.

BENDER: The arrival of Arch is what fans have been waiting for

They are not the only impressive SEC teams. The conference now has six teams in our top 10. No. 4 Alabama made short work of Wisconsin in a 42-10 blowout. No. 6 Ole Miss also passed a road test with a 40-6 victory at Wake Forest.

No. 8 Tennessee beat Kent State 71-0, and No. 10 Missouri scored a 27-21 victory against a previously-ranked team in Boston College. Will all six teams fit in the College Football Playoff? That is questionable, but right now they all have a good case.
