The New York Mets could be without Francisco Lindor as they look to secure a spot in the postseason.

Lindor exited the Mets' September 15 contest against the Philadelphia Phillies in the second inning after experiencing back discomfort. Lindor will undergo further testing, including an MRI.

"New York Mets All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor will have further tests Monday, including an MRI, after leaving Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies with back discomfort in the second inning," wrote ESPN.

It was the second time over the weekend that Lindor left the game early. He left the game in the seventh inning on Friday in game one of the series. He did not play on Saturday in game two.

"Lindor said he felt the discomfort Sunday after taking the first few steps out of the batter's box on his leadoff single in the first inning," wrote ESPN.

Lindor is hitting .271 with 31 home runs. He was making a real case for Most Valuable Player as well. Besides his individual achievements, Lindor was leading the Mets in a tight National League Wild Card race.

The Mets and Atlanta Braves are tied for the final Wild Card spot in the National League. The Arizona Diamondbacks have a two-game lead on both teams as the regular season is winding down.
