49ers five-year starter predicted to sign with Browns after 2024 season

The San Francisco 49ers have one of the most well-built rosters in football.

San Francisco made a run to the Super Bowl last season, although it ended up losing to the Kansas City Chiefs. The 49ers have much of the same core together and should be able to make a run once again this season despite some injuries.

The 49ers currently are missing Christian McCaffrey but still have a great chance of making some noise this season. Once it ends, though, the 49ers will have a tough time affording to keep the entire core together.

Because of this, Bleacher Report's scouting department predicted that longtime starter Dre Greenlaw will sign with the Cleveland Browns in free agency after the season.

"2025 Free Agency: (linebacker) Dre Greenlaw, San Francisco 49ers," Bleacher Report said. "The Browns haven't prioritized off-ball linebackers, but they have become increasingly important since Jim Schwartz took over the defense. They actually paid good money to extend Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah before the season started, but they would be wise to put another athletic linebacker beside him.

"Dre Greenlaw's speed and athleticism are an underrated element to what the 49ers are able to do upfront. Bringing him to Cleveland would help ensure they have a dominant unit in 2025."

Greenlaw is in his fifth season with the 49ers after being selected in the fifth round of the 2019 National Football League Draft. He has been an important piece of the 49ers' defense and already has 1 1/2 sacks this season.

Keep an eye on him throughout the season.
