While the New England Patriots have run into some performance and injury issues on the offensive line, they've released one of their offensive tackles.

On Monday, New England agreed to an injury settlement with Tyrone Wheatley Jr., who's now free to sign with any team in the league, including the Patriots.

The 27-year-old signed with the Chicago Bears after going undrafted in 2020. He spent 2021-22 with Chicago, part of the 2022 season with the Las Vegas Raiders and part of 2022-23 with the Cleveland Browns.

New England traded running back Pierre Strong Jr. to Cleveland for Wheatley's services. He appeared in two games for the Patriots in 2023, playing five special teams snaps.

The Patriots placed Wheatley on injured reserve during roster cuts this year.

New England's offensive tackle room currently includes Mike Onwenu, Vederian Lowe (injured), Caedan Wallace and Demontrey Jacobs.

Honestly, with New England's current offensive line situation, it wouldn't be surprising to see him sign back with the team and hold a depth role or practice squad spot at some point in 2024.
