49ers could target four-time Pro Bowler due to Christian McCaffrey injury scare

The San Francisco 49ers don't have time to wait around.

San Francisco will be without the services of superstar running back Christian McCaffrey for the foreseeable future. The 49ers also lost star wide receiver Deebo Samuel and need to figure out how to add more firepower to the offense in the near future.

If the 49ers want to add, one team they should take a look at is the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys currently have four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook on the practice squad. He's someone the 49ers should consider giving a chance.

Jordan Mason has been great so far for the 49ers this season, but if he were to suffer an injury before McCaffrey returns, they would be in a very bad position. Cook is someone they could target and sign to the active roster, but they will have to do so quickly before Dallas gives him a chance.

Cook had a bad 2023 season but racked up just under 1,200 rushing yards in 2022 with the Minnesota Vikings. He is just 29 years old. San Francisco has been bitten by the injury bug in a tough way already. He is someone that could help without breaking the bank. The 49ers are among the top contenders in the NFC, but these early games are important.

If the 49ers start stacking up losses without McCaffrey and Samuel, they may dig themselves too big of a hole to come out of.

San Francisco needs to add to the offense as fast as possible and should consider giving Cook a chance on the active roster.
