Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is headed to injured reserve.  NFL Network's Mike Garofalo and Ian Rapoport are reporting that this move is being made to give Tua time to recover from the concussion he suffered in the Week 2 Thursday night football game. The earliest he could return would be Week 8, but the Dolphins have been clear that no timeline will be assigned to his recovery. This is the third concussion of Tua's career, the other two were sustained in 2022.

Calls for Tua to retire have come from near and far, but none of them have been from within the Miami Dolphins organization.  He is reportedly seeking the assistance of concussion specialists.  Coach Mike McDaniel has not speculated on what Tua's next move is out of respect for the human being Tua is.

In the meantime, QB2 Skylar Thompson is expected to take the reins. Thompson won the battle of the backups over the summer over Mike White.  The Dolphins signed Tyler Huntley off the Ravens practice squad earlier in the week.  Though many have wondered if the Dolphins would seek a high-profile veteran quarterback to become QB2, that does not appear to be the case at the moment.
