Las Vegas Raiders pitched as possible trade partner for star quarterback

Entering the 2024 campaign, the biggest question mark the Las Vegas Raiders had was at the quarterback position, and that hasn't changed much after two weeks.

Granted, Gardner Minshew hasn't played poorly and is coming off an upset win over the Baltimore Ravens , but I'm not sure anyone would confidently bet on him being able to maintain the starting job the entire season, let alone beyond this year.

Knowing that, ESPN analyst Mina Kimes recently suggested the Raiders as a possible landing spot for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford if the team ever decided to blow it up and trade him.

"I want to pitch one (possible landing spot for Staffrd) to you guys: the Raiders," she said. "Watching them the first two weeks, that is a very, very good defense. Davante Adams is still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Brock Bowers looks like a dude. Imagine Matthew Stafford."

Now that would be an intriguing option for sure, as Stafford would be a big upgrade over anyone Las Vegas has on its roster right now.

But adding him would depend upon where the Raiders are. Assuming the Rams would even trade Stafford in the first place, the Raiders would have to prove they are clearly a quarterback away from truly contending.

Stafford still has two more years left on his current deal after 2024, so he could be a multi-year option. However, he's also set to turn 37 in February, so there's no guarantee he'll be around for much longer.

As the Rams are off to an 0-2 start and are plagued by injuries, the situation in Los Angeles is definitely one the Raiders should monitor.
