Eagles fans are (rightfully) convinced: Bill Belichick wants Howie Roseman’s roster

While Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has publicly backed his current head coach since last season’s controversial collapse , the rumor mill surrounding Nick Siranni’s “hot seat” will only intensify should the Eagles lose games in the fashion of Monday night’s late debacle against the Atlanta Falcons .

Speaking of the rumor mill, could Bill Belichick be a realistic replacement for Sirianni in 2025?

Currently off the field, the future Hall of Fame coach has been all over the media in recent weeks, pushing some not-so-subtle agendas. In an appearance on Tom Brady’s Let’s Go! podcast , Belichick dropped some comments that have Eagles fans convinced: He would love to work with his buddy Howie Roseman and inherit Philly's stacked roster.

During the podcast episode with Brady, Belichick was asked a broad question about NFL teams he respects, in terms of roster management. Belichick immediately went to the Dallas Cowboys — shocker — to throw some flowers at his guy Jerry Jones. Is it a coincidence that Jerry’s roster management, waiting until the last possible second on contract extensions for CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott, is currently under fire? Absolutely not. Jerry’s a Belichick guy, so the Cowboys were first on his list.

Belichick then mentioned another NFC East team he admires — the Philadelphia Eagles. He went on to drop another head-scratching take, praising Roseman for signing Bryce Huff, a player who would make Bill cringe if he turned on the all-22 from the Eagles first two games.

Here was Belichick’s exact quote to Brady:

You look at a team like Philadelphia… they’ve also put together a pretty good roster. They continue to make great moves, like signing Bryce Huff and trading away (Haason) Reddick and, you know, giving that problem to somebody else, things like that.

Again, as random as it may seem, Belichick doesn’t just say things. He’s always pushing an agenda. In his now regular spot on ESPN’s ManningCast , Belichick was asked an innocuous question about every Falcons fan’s worst nightmare: 28 to 3.

Belichick couldn't help himself, tossing some shade at Falcons owner Arthur Blank, whose team picked Raheem Morris as head coach this hiring cycle after giving Bill a pair of interviews. In case you missed it, Belichick lauded his players and coordinators for the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history — making sure to pat the back of defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, by the way — before climbing to the top rope and adding this little nugget:

“Also, I remember Blank down on the sideline in the fourth quarter, you know, celebrating when they were ahead,” Belichick said.

“You saw that?” Payton Manning spits out while laughing. “You noticed that?”

“Well he’s a pretty good dresser, now,” Belichick said. “Like, Arthur always looks sharp. But he was down there on the sideline and we were getting beat and I’m like, geez …”

There’s always an agenda with Belichick. Blank could have hired Bill as his head coach this season. Instead, he gets the knife.

What agenda is Belichick pushing with Philadelphia?

There were rumors in the offseason that the Eagles were sniffing around Belichick . In the end, that’s all they were. Sirianni was retained, so it’s not like the team’s bringing Bill in for an official interview.

But Belichick’s comments to Brady on Roseman’s roster management is deserving of the fan fodder. Roseman’s a Belichick guy. He’s in the club. There’s even video of Bill dapping up Eagles coaches on the field prior to Monday’s game at the Linc:

Sirianni and his staff botched the end of the Falcons game on Monday night. The Eagles have too much talent on their roster to put out a middling product. If it continues, calls for Siranni’s job will only get louder.

And make no mistake — among those calling to be "HC of the PHI" is none other than Belichick himself.

3 1st round draft choice busts from Georgia. Howie has a poor draft record in drafting defensive backs and wide receivers. And Howie won't spend money on a linebacker, no matter how good he is. They could have had Micah Parsons and Justin Jefferson. Instead, they got Jalen Reagor (yet another bust) & DeVonta Smith. FIRE HOWIE.
