Washington cracks ESPN’s “Bottom 10” teams of Week 3

Washington isn’t off to the blazing hot start they had last year when they were the national runner up, as they fell to their archrival Washington State in The Apple Cup last Saturday in Seattle. The Huskies were held to under 20 points last week and were shut out by the Cougars in the fourth quarter.

This performance has caught the attention of ESPN, who ranked Washington No. 5 in the weekly “Bottom 10” rankings. The Huskies were the only team from the Big Ten to make this week’s edition.

Despite the loss, quarterback Will Rogers has been putting up numbers for Washington. The former Mississippi State Bulldog ranks third in the conference in total passing yards behind Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel and Maryland Billy Edwards Jr. Giles Jackson has been a huge weapon for Washington thus far, totaling 326 yards and a touchdown on 24 catches.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Huskies within the next month, as they host Michigan in a rematch of last year's national championship, while paying road trips to Rutgers, Iowa, and Indiana. It suddenly makes this week’s home game against Northwestern a spot where the team needs to pick up a win.
