The Detroit Pistons have desperately been looking to get back into the mix within the Eastern Conference. After years of mediocrity, the team is hoping one of their core young players can rise to the occasion.

The Pistons have selected multiple lottery picks in the last several years. One of which has the potential to break out this season.

“After a year where the former lottery pick was jerked around in regard to minutes, role, and even on-court responsibilities, (Jaden) Ivey is now set to enter his third year, finally with some stability attached to his name,” writes Forbes’ Morten Stig Jensen.

“The 6-foot-4 athletic combo guard has all the physical tools you need out of a high-scoring, impactful two-way guard, and his recent past insinuates he could explode onto the scene for the 2024-2025 season.”

Ivey was selected with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. The former Purdue star entered the league with high hopes from the Pistons organization. Through two seasons with the team, the guard is averaging 15.8 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.4 rebounds on 42.2% shooting from field goal range and 33.6% from three.

At 22, Ivey still has plenty of room to grow but he’s shown flashes of the potential he was drafted for. If the third-year player can put it all together, he could emerge as a star for the Pistons moving forward.
