Nick Saban sends pitiful message on the state of Vanderbilt

This might be the worst news for Vanderbilt, even topping their loss against Georgia State last week: Nick Saban brutally torched them with just a few sentences.

Now, Saban's not the one you'll find mocking some team, let alone dragging them through the mud. But when he does it, you know it will be a gut punch; especially with the cool demeanor he says it with.

"But the only place you’re going to play in the SEC that’s not hard to play, Vanderbilt. When you play at Vanderbilt, you have more fans there than they have, and that’s no disrespect to them, it’s the truth," Saban said on the Pat McAfee show when talking about the difficulties SEC teams face while tackling different on-road atmospheres from away-from-home showdowns.

Further, speaking in Alabama-centric terms about the issue, he claimed an even more embarrassing thing for the Commodores.

"When we played in Nashville, we had more fans, Alabama fans, than what they had Vanderbilt fans," Saban said.

For all we know, Vandy fans might as well prefer cheering from the bar instead, probably over a glass of beer, given the frequent losses they face. This time around, however, Clark Lea and Co. will surely need a good attendance, and some solid wins, of course, to prove Saban wrong.

Vanderbilt almost upset Missouri, proving progression of program

The Commodores are looking a tad bit different than the previous seasons with a revamped offensive staff and players, all hailing from New Mexico State.

With a renewed staff and a renewed zeal running across the roster, the Commodores almost upset Missouri in Week 4. Vanderbilt had a halftime lead and needed to be knocked off in overtime.

Before you consistently win in college football, you consistently compete. Lea and Co. have the Commodores right on schedule after years of institutional futility in Nashville.
