New England Patriots add former Giants wide receiver

As the season goes on, an NFL team's practice squad is never fully formed, as they'll constantly swap players in and out whenever they find someone they like.

On Tuesday, the New England Patriots signed wide receiver John Jiles to their practice squad.

Jiles, 24, played collegiately at Virginia Union, Fort Scott Community College and West Florida. In his 2023, he caught 66 passes for a school-record 1,255 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.

The New York Giants signed Jiles as an undrafted free agent this offseason and released him during roster cuts.

New England currently has six wide receivers on their practice squad, including DeMario Douglas, K.J. Osborn, Tyquan Thornton, Kayhon Boutte, Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker.

They also have one other on the practice squad along with Jiles - former Arkansas Razorback Matt Landers.

The Patriots haven't gotten much production out of their passing game so far this season, but it still seems unlikely that Jiles or Landers would take one of their spots without injury.
