Ty Dillon has been replaced by Dawson Sutton as the driver of the No. 25 Rackley WAR Chevy in the NASCAR Truck Series, effective immediately. This change places 18-year-old Sutton, the son of Rackley WAR co-owner Curtis Sutton, behind the wheel, marking a new chapter for the team. Despite the sudden change, Dillon has confessed his continued support for the team.

His tenure with the squad, including a successful season securing two top-10 finishes thus far, did not meet the high benchmark set by his predecessor, Matt DiBenedetto. In the previous season, DiBenedetto's performance boasted seven top-10 finishes, including a prestigious win at Talladega in 2022, and ultimately qualified for the playoffs with twelve top-10 finishes in twenty races. This juxtaposition in performance appears to have prompted the team's decision to make a quick driver change.

Dawson Sutton's entry into the main driver role is seen as a calculated risk, given his limited experience in the Truck Series. His greatest performances include placing just 28th at North Wilkesboro and 18th at Nashville. However, with Dillon's seasoned expertise now being used to mentor the team, Sutton's developmental trajectory could accelerate significantly.

"I am thankful to everyone at Rackley WAR for the opportunity to make my return to the Truck Series. I look forward to mentoring Dawson for the remainder of this season, and am very excited to focus on my future plans behind the wheel in 2025," Dillon said in a social media statement.

Rackley WAR's co-owner, Willie Allen, has immense gratitude for Dillon's contributions to the team.

"We are super-thankful for the job Ty has done for us this year as our primary driver. We appreciate his willingness to take on an additional role and help Dawson grow and develop as a young driver for the remainder of the NASCAR Truck Series season. We look forward to Ty's continued valuable input and support in the ongoing development of our race program," Allen said .

This change comes at a critical time for Rackley WAR as they strive to improve their standing in the NASCAR Truck Series. The No. 25 Rackley WAR Chevy is competing against drivers such as Timmy Hill (#56 Shophillmotorsports.com Toyota) and Corey Heim (#11 Safelite Toyota), making every decision crucial for their future performance.

The Childress family, Austin, Ty or Richard, just simply weren't good racers. Richard is a good businessman but his decision to put his grandkids in the seat had to be based solely on love. It certainly wasn't a good racing decision!
