White Sox expected to move on from interim manager after 2024

The Chicago White Sox have had a miserable season and need only one more loss to break the single season record set by the 1962 New York Mets.

They fired manager Pedro Grifol shortly after their 21-game losing streak and replaced him with Grady Sizemore, who is filling the role in an interim capacity.

However, Dayn Perry of CBS Sports expects that the White Sox will ultimately move on from Sizemore at the end of the season.

"Sizemore is 8-31 as White Sox manager, but, well, it's hard to judge anyone tasked with wrenching wins from one of the worst rosters in modern MLB history," Perry wrote. "The guess here is that the clubs will move on from each interim before next season."

Sizemore obviously deserves the benefit of the doubt in this situation. The White Sox roster is poorly constructed, and the team had already dug themselves and insurmountable hole before he took over.

The White Sox interim skipper is also quite well respected within the organization, so it's likely that he'll remain in the organization in some form, just not as the regular manager.

The White Sox have already been linked to Skip Schumaker, who likely is on his way out the door with the Miami Marlins.

But it is very possible that the White Sox will go a different direction as far as finding a regular manager. They'll definitely need a fresh voice from outside the organization if they want to begin a turnaround.

Still, Sizemore is not at fault for what has taken place this season. He hasn't exactly been given much to work with. But it will be interesting to see what the South Siders decide to do this winter.
