Red Sox pitcher on track to be with team during 2025 Spring Training

Boston Red Sox starter/reliever Garrett Whitlock is on course to make a return to the main roster during next year's Spring Training, per Gabrielle Starr . Whitlock will probably shift towards the bullpen since the turmoil there will be immense this offseason.

Whitlock has a career 3.39 ERA, and before his season-ending injury, he had a 1.96 this season. His return will definitely be a huge boost to the Sox pitching staff.

This offseason, Chris Martin and Kenley Jansen will be free agents, and probably will leave the team. Not counting Liam Hendriks, Luis Gurrero, Justin Slaten, and Zach Penrod, the bullpen is pretty weak.

Since starter Nick Pivetta will be entering free agency as well, if the Sox get their next ace in free agency, Whitlock will probably become the go-to reliever and the sixth starter in case someone gets hurt.

If the Sox could get a couple of star lefty relievers to pair with Whitlock and the gang, then the bullpen could go from the worst in the MLB to one of the best.
