Dodgers could sign star slugger who will have 'huge market'

Once the 2024 Major League Baseball season comes to an end, it wouldn't be shocking for the Los Angeles Dodgers to look for a way to improve the shortstop position.

Los Angeles has had some trouble at the spot recently and even tried six-time Gold Glove Award-winning outfielder Mookie Betts at the position this year. The Dodgers likely will look around again this winter for a solution to their shortstop problem, and the New York Post's Jon Heyman mentioned them as a team that could pursue Milwaukee Brewers star slugger Willy Adames.

"I would say that Dansby Swanson probably is the baseline there for Adames (contract-wise), and you certainly got to like the Dodgers," Heyman said. "They have done a lot of different things at shortstop, but if they could trade for Bo Bichette or land Adames, I think that would be a solution for them."

It's not hard to see why Adames could work with the Dodgers. Los Angeles needs a shortstop, and Adames has been a very good one for years. This hasn't been his best year defensively, but he is a capable defender and one of the best offensive shortstops in the game.

This year, he has launched 32 home runs with 111 RBIs. If he could bring a steady hand to the shortstop spot while also adding some right-handed pop to the middle of the order, that could go a long way. The price tag will be the Dodgers' biggest issue, but it seems like they have an unlimited amount of money.
