Boston Red Sox Chief of Baseball Operations Craig Breslow went on The Greg Hill Show and was asked if the Sox ownership was ready to spend money to get some elite talent. His response pointed towards most definitely.

“The commitment from ownership to get us where we need to go is there, is strong. It’s up to me to figure out what opportunities we need to pursue. But I don’t have any questions about ownership’s willingness to do what we need to do to get the Red Sox back where we belong.”

This is relatively surprising news, as the Sox ownership just asked some front office employees and scouts to take pay cuts if they want to stay employed with Boston. So, it seemed like they were just saving money and didn’t want to spend.

However, if this is true, the Sox are only a few key pieces away from a championship contender. All they need is a star righty slugger , an ace for the starting rotation , and some bullpen help, to supplement the return of Garrett Whitlock .

If the Fenway Sports Group is actually ready to spend some money to make Boston into a traditional power like it’s been the past 30 years, then all the power to them, and let’s see what they do in the offseason.
