Giants vs. Cowboys final score, results: Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb lead Dallas in 7th straight win over New York

Few NFL teams have dominated a single opponent in recent years more than the Cowboys have dominated the Giants.

In the NFC East rivals' first meeting of the 2024 season, Dak Prescott secured his 13th consecutive win against New York and the team's seventh straight. The quarterback hasn't lost to the Giants since his rookie season in 2016 when he fell to Eli Manning twice despite winning the division.

The 20-15 victory in East Rutherford was a high-stakes game for Dallas. Heading into the contest 1-2, head coach Mike McCarthy's job was arguably on the line Thursday night as he works this season on an expiring contract . Fortunately, his team may have kept his seat a little cooler for now.

Prescott and CeeDee Lamb proved to be a dynamic duo after the receiver struggled in last week's game . He redeemed himself Thursday with 98 yards on seven receptions, including a touchdown. Prescott impressed, as well, throwing for 221 yards and two scores on 22-of-27 passing.

The Cowboys' defense didn't allow a single touchdown by the Giants all night, holding them to five field goals by kicker Greg Joseph. Daniel Jones threw for more yards than Prescott with 281, but he completed just 29-of-40 and tossed a game-ending interception on a Hail Mary with under 10 seconds left.

A bright spot for New York, as he's been all year so far, was rookie Malik Nabers. He pulled in 12 receptions for 115 yards before exiting the game with a concussion in the fourth quarter. That wasn't the only major injury, as Cowboys pass-rusher Micah Parsons was carted to the locker room with a left leg issue just as Nabers entered the sideline tent.

Giants coach Brian Daboll was in hot water like McCarthy before the contest, but his seat is now scalding after the loss. In contrast, Dallas got its season back on track. Both teams, however, get an extra few days of rest before their next matchups against the Seahawks and Steelers, respectively.

Final: Cowboys 20, Giants 15

11:19 p.m. — INTERCEPTION! Oruwariye picks off Jones at the Dallas four on a pass intended for Hyatt. With five seconds remaining, this effectively ends the game with the Cowboys on top. Prescott kneels it out and Dallas goes to .500 while New York falls to 1-3.

11:17 p.m. — The Giants are left with 32 seconds to score and regain possession on their own 41. Jones' first pass goes over Robinson's head and then he throws it away on the next play to set up 3rd & 10.

11:15 p.m. — COWBOYS MISSED FIELD GOAL. Dowdle takes a handoff up the middle for a 1-yard gain up the middle to set up 3rd & Long before he takes it again for another four, just short of the marker. Aubrey comes out to kick a 51-yard try but misses it wide right, his first miss of the season.

11:12 p.m. — Nabers heads back to the locker room as Leupke runs it up the middle for a gain of two. Then, Elliot gets one more carry but he's brought down in the backfield for a loss of three by McFadden. The clock runs down to the two minute warning with Dallas up by five on the Giants 37 and 2nd & 13 to go.

11:10 p.m. — The Cowboys regain possession after the turnover on downs at the Giants 45. Elliot takes the first handoff for seven yards before New York takes a timeout. Elliot takes another handoff for two more before Daboll uses his final break of the game with 3:10 on the clock.

11:07 p.m. — Daboll elects to go for it on 4th & 6, and he looks toward Nabers on the sideline. The WR attempts to toe-tap but can't hold onto the ball while falling forward. He is slow to get up and heads to the tent immediately as Parsons is carted to the locker room.

11:05 p.m. — Parsons appears to have suffered a left leg injury after he was rolled onto by a Giants lineman on the last play. He leaves the field with trainers assisting him.

11:02 p.m. — Nabers makes a 4-yard catch the next play to the Giants 45, then Tracy takes a handoff before Parsons brings him down at the line of scrimmage with Kendricks. On 3rd & 6, Jones tries to hit Robinson on the slant but he can't pull it in. Robinson looks to appeal for a flag but none is thrown. Parson is injured on the play.

11 p.m. — Jones hits Robinson just before the marker and Oruwariye takes him down just before he can reach for it. The Giants elect to go for it on 4th & 1, and Singletary gets a fresh set of downs with a 2-yard run.

10:58 p.m. — Aubrey's kick goes out for a touchback, and Diggs has come out of the locker room back to the field. He enters the game on the first play of the drive, and Jones throws an incompletion to start. He then completes a 6-yard pass to Johnson to set up 3rd & 4.

Cowboys 20, Giants 15

10:55 p.m. — FIELD GOAL COWBOYS! Aubrey extends the Dallas lead to five with a 40-yard kick and 6:54 remaining in the game. The Giants don't have much time to punch in their first touchdown of the game, but they need one to pull ahead.

10:53 p.m. — Yet again Dowdle takes a handoff for four yards, then Lamb takes one himself for a loss of one to set up 3rd & 7 at the New York 22. Prescott then looks for Lamb up the middle under pressure from Thibodeaux and throws an incompletion, bringing up Aubrey for the field goal.

10:51 p.m. — Dowdle once again gets the 1st down and more, then Prescott looks to find Cooks but he is well covered by Flott and can't pull it in. Tolbert makes a catch on the sideline the next play for a gain of 15 to the Giants 25 before he is pushed out of bounds.

10:49 p.m. — Ferguson makes the first catch of the drive and comes down just before the marker. Prescott hands it off to Dowdle who easily gets a 1st down and more. The QB finds Ferguson again who makes a sliding catch for nine yards again.

10:47 p.m. — Diggs has been ruled questionable for the remainder of the game with dehydration. Joseph kicks it for a touchback and Dallas will get it at its own 30.

Cowboys 17, Giants 15

10:46 p.m. — On 3rd & 14 at the Dallas 24, Jones tries to hit Slayton but the WR is unable to pull it in, bringing on Joseph for a fifth field goal. He hits it up the middle from 42 yards out and it is once again a 2-point game with 11:11 on the clock.

10:44 p.m. — Singletary takes a carry and scrambles around the backfield before being taken down for a loss of three by Liufau. Diggs goes down on the play with what looks like a cramp, but he gets up and walks off heading toward the locker room.

10:42 p.m. — Jones completes another pass up the middle to Nabers for a 17-yard gain to the Dallas 20. Oruwariye is called for illegal contact on the tackle but the penalty is declined. Jones then finds Nabers again, this time for a loss of one.

10:40 p.m. — Robinson makes a catch short of the first down and isn't able to get any closer to the marker after. Daboll elects to go for it on 4th & 3, and Jones finds Nabers on a slant for the 1st down. The WR comes down awkwardly on his back and neck and is slow to get up.

10:38 p.m. — Singletary picks up five on a carry but Manhertz is penalized for holding, sending the Giants back 10. Jones then looks deep for Slayton but slightly underthrows him and he isn't able to pull it in. It's 3rd & 11 on the Giants 47, and Daboll calls a timeout.

End of third quarter: Cowboys 17, Giants 12

10:32 p.m. — Jones finds Nabers with the first pass of the drive for a gain of eight before the clock expires to end the quarter. New York now has 15 minutes to catch up to its divisional rivals before collecting a second loss on the season.

10:28 p.m. — Elliot takes another carry for eight yards to set up 3rd & 12 at the Cowboys 16. Then, Prescott finds Leupke who is pushed out of bounds far short of the marker. Dallas elects to punt and Smith-Marsette jukes out several Cowboys on his return all the way to the New York 48.

10:26 p.m. — Elliot takes the first handoff for a gain of nine and two flags fly on the play. Both are holding penalties against Dallas, and the Cowboys are sent back for 1st & 20. Lamb tries a carry and is downed by Burns for a loss of one.

10:23 p.m. — Gillian comes out to punt and boots it to the Dallas 18. Turpin makes the fair catch.

10:22 p.m. — Jones' first pass goes to Nabers for a 5-yard gain. Then, Kneeland bursts through the Giants line and takes Jones down for a loss of five to set up 3rd & 10. Robinson can't pull in Jones' next pass for a fresh set of downs and the Giants elect to punt.

10:20 p.m. — Gray receives Aubrey's kick and returns it to the New York 32. Luepke is hurt on the tackle for Dallas and is being checked out on the sideline.

Cowboys 17, Giants 12

10:17 p.m. — FIELD GOAL DALLAS! Aubrey nails a 60-yard try to put Dallas up five with 5:06 to go in the quarter.

10:15 p.m. — Prescott misses Luepke toward the sideline but Guyton is called for holding and Dallas will replay 3rd down. The QB tries to hit Cooks on the next play for the 1st down, but he can't pull it in to set up 4th & 11.

10:13 p.m. — Dowdle takes two handoffs for a total of 17 yards and a 1st down to the Giants 41. Prescott then finds Elliot, who's been quiet tonight, for a gain of five. Lamb makes a 4-yard catch on the next play to set up 3rd & 1.

10:11 p.m — Joseph's kick goes through the end zone for a touchback. Prescott's first pass goes to Ferguson for six yards. The TE makes another 6-yard reception for a fresh set of downs.

Cowboys 14, Giants 12

10:08 p.m. — FIELD GOAL GIANTS! Robinson makes a catch out of the break for a 5-yard gain to set up 4th & Goal from the three. Joseph comes in again and hits his fourth field goal of the night from 22 yards out to make it a two point game. New York still has yet to score a touchdown but is keeping it close with 8:42 in the third.

10:06 p.m. — New York falls to 3rd & Goal after Singletary is only able to gain two on his next carry, then a media timeout is taken with 9:39 to go in the quarter.

10:04 p.m. — Singletary takes another carry for a gain of three and a 1st down. Jones finds Tracy on the next play who takes it for 19 yards to the Dallas 25. Nabers moves the Giants into the red zone with a 15-yard catch, then Jones fails to find Robinson to set up 2nd & Goal from the 10.

10:02 p.m. — Singletary takes the first carry for a loss of three, then Jones finds Slayton at the New York 45 for a 12-yard gain and a 1st down. Jones' next pass goes to Slayton again for eight before Robinson makes another catch for eight into Cowboys territory.

10 p.m. — Aubrey kicks it off to Tracy who returns it at the nine for no gain. Before he goes down he fumbles, but Manhertz catches the ball out of the air and keeps going for 11 more before he's downed at the Giants 20.

Halftime: Cowboys 14, Giants 9

9:45 p.m. — Jones takes a knee to run out the clock and both teams head to the locker room with the Cowboys in the lead. Both QBs have only had two incompletions so far, but Jones has yet to throw a touchdown.

9:43 p.m. — Prescott throws an incompletion to Cooks on 3rd & 12 before Thomas is called for a false start with the team in punt formation. Anger punts it on the next play for 60 yards into the end zone and even more flags fly. Spann-Ford is called for holding, giving the Giants 10 more yards.

9:40 p.m. — Tolbert makes the catch at the sideline for six yards, then on the next play two flags fly in the backfield before Jones finds Tolbert deep for another six. Thibodeaux is called for offsides and Guyton is called for holding, and the calls offset. Giants take a timeout and Thibodeaux was injured during the play.

9:38 p.m. — Prescott is sacked by Thibodeaux for a loss of eight to set up 2nd & Long on the Dallas 39. With just over 30 seconds remaining, Dallas calls its final timeout.

9:36 p.m. — Joseph's kick goes through the end zone for a touchback. Prescott's first pass goes short up the middle to Lamb for a 9-yard gain before Ferguson catches another for eight more and the first down.

Cowboys 14, Giants 9

9:32 p.m. — FIELD GOAL GIANTS! Lawrence takes down Jones in the backfield for a sack and the Giants are penalized for offensive holding. Joseph comes on with 4th & 8 to go and hits a 38-yard try, bringing New York within five with 1:06 remaining.

9:30 p.m. — Jones tries a short pass to Nabers who makes the catch for five yards. On 3rd & 9, Jones tries to catch the Cowboys offsides on a few hard counts and he succeeds. Parsons steps into the neutral zone to bring up 3rd & 4 for New York at the 16 before Dallas calls a timeout with 1:16 remaining.

9:26 p.m. — Singletary gets the final handoff before the two minute warning for one yard. The Giants will have the ball at the Dallas 26 on 2nd & 14 after the break.

9:23 p.m. — Jones hands it off to Singletary and he goes for no gain to set up 3rd & 3. Then, the QB takes it himself for a 1st down at the Dallas 22. Jones tries to hit Robinson near the left sideline, which it appears he does before dropping the ball. The Cowboys recover and take it all the way for a score before the catch was ruled incomplete. The Giants are also called for an ineligible man downfield, setting up 1st & Long.

9:20 p.m. — Singletary makes a short catch and runs upfield for 14 to the Cowboys 34. Tracy takes a handoff up the middle for a 2-yard gain, then Dallas is called for too many men on the field, giving New York five more.

9:18 p.m. — Tracy takes a carry for no gain before Jones finds Nabers again for two. Singletary also re-enters the game. On 3rd & 8, Jones finds Robinson just shy of a fresh set of downs. Daboll elects to go for it at the Giants 49, and Singletary gets the carry, avoids a tackle in the backfield and runs to the outside for a three yard gain and a 1st down.

9:16 p.m. — Parsons returns to the field on the next play. Jones tries to hit Nabers but the pass is incomplete. He finds Nabers again, this time successfully for a 10-yard gain and a 1st down at their own 40.

9:14 p.m. — After the break, the call on the field was confirmed and upheld. New York will retain possession at their own 30 on 2nd & 8. Dallas is charged with a timeout for the unsuccessful challenge. Singletary did go to the sideline after the play but it is undetermined what the injury was, if any.

9:12 p.m. — Aubrey boots it to Gray, who returns it to the Giants 28. Jones' first handoff goes to Singletary who takes it for two yards then fumbles. It's recovered by the Cowboys but Singletary was initially ruled down. However, McCarthy elects to challenge the call.

9:10 p.m. — Some good news for the Cowboys following the score: Parsons will return to the game despite dealing with a neck injury. However, it's worth keeping an eye on him throughout the game.

Cowboys 14, Giants 6

9:07 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN DALLAS! Prescott finds Lamb who sprints for 55 yards and the score. He appears to throw the ball toward a Giant during his celebration and is flagged for taunting, but the score stands. Aubrey hits the extra point and the Cowboys now own an 8-point lead with 9:16 in the half.

9:05 p.m. — Joseph's kick goes for a touchback. Elliot takes the first snap for five yards up the middle before Prescott attempts to take it himself for no gain. The QB then finds Ferguson for four to set up 4th & Short before Luepke rushes it for six and a 1st down.

9:03 p.m. — Parsons headed into the injury tent to be checked for a concussion . Here's the play where he was injured.

Cowboys 7, Giants 6

9 p.m. — FIELD GOAL GIANTS! Robinson makes a 5-yard reception to the 25, but Cowboys LB Parsons is injured on the play. Jones finds Nabers for three more before facing fourth down, so Daboll sends on Joseph once again. He hits a 41-yard field goal to put the Giants within one with 11:11 to go in the half.

8:58 p.m. — With a fresh set of downs, Jones hits Tracy up the right sideline but one of his feet comes down out of bounds. A penalty is called on Tracy during the play, and the Cowboys are sent back five. Gray takes the next handoff for a gain of one and it's 2nd & Long from the 30.

8:56 p.m. — On 3rd & 9 the next snap, Jones passes it short to Robinson who loses his defender and runs for 11 yards and a 1st down. Then, the QB finds Slayton deep upfield for a 28-yard gain to the Dallas 26.

8:54 p.m. — Out of the break, Jones looks for Nabers but the WR can't pull it in to set up 3rd & Long. A flag is thrown at the beginning of the next play for offsides on New York, signifying a free play for Jones. He launches it for Slayton up the right sideline but it's intercepted by Diggs, however the Giants retain possession because of the penalty.

End of first quarter: Cowboys 7, Giants 3

8:48 p.m. — Jones first pass of the drive goes short to Robinson, who steps over his defender and runs it forward for a fresh set of downs. He finds Nabers next but the WR is forced out of bounds for a loss of four as the clock winds down to end the first quarter.

8:46 p.m. — Tracy receives Aubrey's kickoff and returns it to the New York 23. Singletary gets the first handoff for a gain of four, then he carries it again for another three to set up 3rd & 3.

Cowboys 7, Giants 3

8:43 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN COWBOYS! Dallas takes the lead on a 15-yard rushing score by Dowdle. A flag is thrown but the officials conclude there was no penalty on the play, resulting in a Cowboys score. Aubrey hits the extra point and Dallas leads with 2:06 in the quarter.

8:41 p.m. — From the Giants seven, Dowdle takes a carry for two yards. Prescott then tries to find Ferguson in the end zone but the ball is tipped and incomplete. A flag was thrown on the play for holding on Cowboys RT Guyton to make it 2nd & Goal from the 15.

8:39 p.m. — Lamb makes another catch for four yards, then Tolbert pulls one in for three to set up another 3rd & 3. Prescott finds Cooks on the next play who breaks a tackle and sprints forward for the 1st down and more.

8:37 p.m. — The Cowboys drive continues as Luepke picks up an 11-yard catch for a 1st down at the Giants 41. Dowdle takes the next handoff for one, then Prescott finds Lamb on a slant for another fresh set of downs at the 30.

8:35 p.m. — Prescott pitches it to Lamb in the backfield who sprints forward for 10 himself. Then, the QB finds Ferguson on a bullet up the middle for seven to set up 3rd & 3 at their own 48.

8:33 p.m. — Lamb pulls another catch in on the next play for an 11-yard gain and a first down. The next pass from Prescott goes to Vaughn for another fresh set of downs but a flag is thrown. Tolbert is called for an offensive pass interference, sending Dallas back 10 yards to set up 1st & Long.

8:31 p.m. — Prescott passes it short up the middle to Lamb for a 5-yard gain. New York's Nunez-Roches was injured during the play and walks off the field under his own power with trainers at his side.

8:30 p.m. — Joseph boots it through the end zone for a touchback, but a flag is thrown. The Cowboys are called for an illegal formation and will start at their own 25 rather than the 30.

Giants 3, Cowboys 0

8:26 p.m. — FIELD GOAL GIANTS! On 3rd & 10 Jones finds Robinson, but he's tripped up short of the 1st down. Daboll sends out Joseph for a field goal, and he hits the 52-yard try to put the Giants up three with 9:03 remaining in the first.

8:24 p.m. — Jones takes it himself for five, but a penalty is called on Bellinger for a face-mask and New York is pushed back to where the play started. On 2nd & Long, Jones makes an 8-yard throw to Robinson who catches it with 10 yards to the marker.

8:22 p.m. — Nabers makes a 39-yard grab after Jones finds him wide open along the left sideline for a fresh set of downs in Cowboy territory. Singletary gets the next snap and is pushed out of bounds after a 3-yard gain.

8:21 p.m. — Anger punts it to Smith-Marsette who makes a fair catch at the Giants 15. Jones starts the drive with a handoff to Singletary for a 5-yard gain. Tracy takes the next one for just a yard to set up 3rd & 4.

8:19 p.m. — Prescott's first snap is handed off to Dowdle for a 6-yard run. The next carry goes to Dowdle as well, but he's taken down by McCloud and Flott for a loss of one. Prescott throws it away on 3rd & 5 and the Cowboys go three-and-out to start the game.

8:17 p.m. — Joseph kicks it off and it bounces through the end zone for a touchback. Dallas will start on their own 30.

8:15 p.m. — The Giants win the toss and defer. The Cowboys will receive the opening kick.

Pregame

8:10 p.m. — Both teams have taken the field ahead of kickoff. Fortunately for QB Jones, he received a much warmer welcome than his last home game.

7:45 p.m. — Among familiar faces at MetLife tonight are Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, 4x Olympic gold medalist and track star, and Post Malone, 10x Grammy nominated music artist. Malone showed up in an Aubrey jersey and even got the kicker to sign the back. Oh, and McLaughlin-Levrone of course came to the stadium dripped out.

7:35 p.m. — The Cowboys have beaten New York 12 of their last 13 matchups, including six consecutive games leading up to tonight. Prescott himself is 12-2 against Dallas, with the team's most recent loss to the Giants occurring when he was out with an ankle injury the 2021 season. 7:25 p.m. — Giants rookie WR Nabers spent warmups in a shirt reading "D.A.W.G," an acronym for discipline, attitude, will and grit. In his first three games, he's made 23 catches for three touchdowns and 271 yards.

7:15 p.m. — Tonight's forecast in East Rutherford shows about a 30% chance of rain during the game with a 10% chance of thunderstorms. However, it doesn't seem like the weather should have too much of an effect on play.

6:55 p.m. — Inactives have been announced for Dallas and New York. CB Carson is sidelined tonight for the Cowboys with a shoulder issue, meaning Booth is likely to line up across from Giants rookie WR Nabers. S Bell is also out with an ankle injury, further weakening Dallas' secondary.

As for the Giants, WR Slayton is active for tonight after dealing with a right thumb issue. He had a wrap on the finger coming into the stadium and warmed up in gloves. CB McCloud is also back after missing the last two games with a knee injury.

6:40 p.m. — With just about 90 minutes to kickoff, both teams have arrived at MetLife ahead of tonight's matchup. The Cowboys are 5.5-point favorites in New York, per BetMGM.
