Bears coordinator could be fired in 'couple of weeks,' insider says

Could a prominent coach for the Chicago Bears be axed as soon as Week 6?

The possibility is becoming more real by the day. Offensive coordinator Shane Waldron is on the hot seat right now; that's not a mystery to anyone following the Bears. Chicago's offense has been underwhelming, to say the least, and a string of questionable coaching decisions on that side of the ball combined with two avoidable losses have many of the Bears faithful calling for Waldron's canning .

While it's impossible to know exactly how Chicago's brass feels about Waldron right now, all indications from the media point to Waldron's seat growing uncomfortably warm, especially in the event of another loss or two.

Chicago Tribune's Bears insider Brad Biggs tends to believe that Waldron is a fortnight away from losing his job.

"The team might make a move with coordinator Shane Waldron if the offense remains a mess the next couple of weeks," Biggs said on Wednesday.

"Developing Caleb Williams is Waldron's No. 1 job and the Bears can feel like that's headed in the right direction, but there has to be some tangible improvement in the running game to give Williams a better chance."

Needless to say, the next two weeks are monumentally important for not only Waldron but the entire Bears organization. Starting 1-4 would be seen as a massive step backward for a team on the rise, and someone's bound to be blamed for the disappointment.
