2025 NFL mock draft predicts another Ohio State receiver goes to Seahawks in Round 1

All offseason we kept on saying that the Seattle Seahawks were going to be a lot better than most folks were projecting in 2024. After the team's hot 3-0 start to the season, it's getting harder and harder to ignore just how much they have changed and grown under rookie head coach Mike Macdonald's influence in such a short time.

Analysts in the know are catching up, though. That includes the GOAT quarterback Tom Brady , who has Seattle ranked in his top-five teams in his latest power rankings for Fox Sports. Three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt also knows this is a really, really good team.

The hip also includes the draft community, whose projections for the 2025 NFL draft have inevitably gone from the Seahawks picking in the top 10 just a few weeks ago to near the bottom of the order now. In a new 2025 mock draft , Cory Kinnan at Sports Illustrated has Seattle finishing with the 29th overall pick, which they use on Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. Seahawks pick Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka

"Back-to-back Buckeyes here, the Seahawks begin to prepare for life without the aging Tyler Lockett without disrupting the current role of Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Instead, they take a former teammate of his in the form of Emeka Egbuka. While the Ohio State wide receiver is not overly explosive and does not have a defining trait, he is a well-rounded player who is a pro's pro. He'll fit right in with the Seahawks."

Ill-defined traits aside, Egbuka (6-foot-1, 203 pounds) has been undeniably productive for the Buckeyes, especially over the last two seasons. To date he's racked up 138 catches, 2,123 yards and 15 touchdowns in 36 career college games.

The pick makes sense for the Seattle, as it gives them a high-ceiling option to eventually replace Tyler Lockett, whether they end up cutting him next offseason for salary cap savings or if he retires following the 2025 season. Lockett's snap count share has already been dramatically reduced this year.
