Boston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen has left the team to go home, per Chris Cotillo . It was also reported that his locker was cleaned out and the nameplate was gone, increasing suspicions Jansen is done with the Sox.

"He went home," said Alex Cora, Boston’s skipper. "I talked to him this week. As soon as it was over, two days ago, he wasn't going to pitch. There's other stuff we talked about, other stuff that's going on with him, so yeah."

Fans think this is an equivalent of a bad breakup, and Jansen has plenty of reasons to be mad. The main reason being when he signed the team told him they were going to contend, and they didn’t. Jansen wasted two years of his career when he could have been on a team that really cared.

This is also not the only pitching problem the Sox have currently. According to Alex Speier , there is more going on going into this last series of the season.

Speier interviewed Cora about his pitchers and who is going this last series, and it was pretty confusing.

Cora said that Tanner Houck won’t be pitching Sunday, and neither will Brayan Bello. He did say maybe to bringing up flamethrower AAA prospect Quinn Priester for that start .

Cora spoke positively of Justin Slaten, who he thinks has the ability to be a monster.

And finally, he said it’s too early to talk about Garrett Whitlock’s role next year. It has been reported that Whitlock will be ready for Spring Training , but there is a whole offseason to go through and there may be changes in the team’s roster.
