After 24 seasons, the New England Patriots parted ways with head coach Bill Belichick this offseason and replaced him with former Patriots linebacker and position coach Jerod Mayo.

Through the first three weeks of the season, Mayo's team is 1-2 and has lost their last two, but it still feels like the team is focused on getting better and proving themselves on the field.

Taking the place of one of the greatest coaches of all time can't be an easy task, but it's on that Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones believes Mayo is doing well.

“It takes someone special to replace (Belichick)," Jones said on " The Quick Snap " podcast with Brian Hoyer and Patriots center David Andrews. "When you talk about that, you always wanna be ‘The Man’ who replaces ‘The Man’… he is that guy. He’s next up. How he’s handled it, how he’s going about that… having to replace a legendary coach like Coach Belichick, there’s not a lot of coaches out there who could fill those shoes and just keep everything running. I think so far Jerod has done that.”

If the team keeps losing, Mayo will have his work cut out for him, especially if they continue to start Jacoby Brissett over third-overall pick Drake Maye.

However, after tough losses in back-to-back weeks, it seems his players are still bought in on his message and style of coaching.
